As of 2004, health care has been one of the largest industries in the United States. Nursing Assistants are one of the fastest growing jobs in this field, and a key entry-level position in the industry. CNAs serve as an excellent predecessor to other careers in health care services.

Dominion Health Care Solutions Nurse Aide course prepares the student for an entry into health care occupations as a Certified Nurse Aide. This is a fast paced, rigorous and challenging 7-week short course. The student will be instructed how to provide safe, effective, and caring services to people in a variety of health care settings. Course content will be presented through classroom lecture, hands-on skills practice in lab on student volunteers as residents, and 24-hours of clinical learning experience in an actual medical facility in the community. Upon satisfaction completion of the course, a certificate will be issued as proof of completing an approved Georgia Nurse Aide Program.
This course will provide the student with an overview of basic cardiovascular terminology, anatomy and physiology. Focus will be on the proper placement of electrocardiogram (EKG) leads, patient preparation, maintenance of equipment to obtain an accurate 12-lead EKG and how to recognize cardiac arrhythmias. Outlines responsibilities of ECG/EKG technicians and provide clinical opportunity to develop entry level skills. Students who complete this course can obtain employment as an entry level ECG/E KG Technician.
This is an introductory course that explains the functions and identifies the Phlebotomist’s role on the healthcare team. Student will be introduced to various departments within the laboratory setting and the role of each department. This program consists of classroom/lab instruction and supervised/preceptor externship experience. The externship portion of training is conducted off campus at a medical facility or a clinic where theoretical and practical skills are integrated. The externship program provides an opportunity for the student to observe, assist, learn and perform patient care services.
Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program
The PCT program prepares Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) to advance their career in the health care industry. The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of nursing or medical staff to provide basic patient care, including recording vital signs, EKG and phlebotomy procedures in a variety of healthcare environments. This program consists of classroom/lab instruction and supervised/preceptor externship experience. The externship portion of training is conducted off campus at a medical facility or a clinic where theoretical and practical skills are integrated. The externship program provides an opportunity for the student to observe, assist, learn and perform patient care services.In addition, DHCS offers:
Full tuition payment is due by the first day of class. Classes are opened until capacity is reached. Students are not officially enrolled in the program they have selected until registration fee and half of the tuition is paid. Early registration and partial payment guarantee a space in the program.

Please note: Participation in clinical practice requires current PPD immunization, a uniform (white top, slacks/skirt, and shoes), and a criminal background check in most instances.
Upon completion of the program, students receive a Certificate and become eligible to take the Georgia Nurse Aide Competency Examination.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: CNA Program minimum requirement: High School/GED certificate. Applicants must be able to read and write in English.
